The music came to an abrupt #end & David started toward the last empty chair. Zaza pretended to race him, but let him win.
"Oh, no! I'm out!" she squealed.
David sat on the tiny chair as the Better Angels cheered.
"David wins again!"
They made sure David won every time.

He felt a blow on his back & saw the #end of a quarrel emerge from his chest. A searing pain went through him as his strength failed & he fell over. His vision narrowed & went dark. He came up briefly when they broke it to remove. But then he was under for the duration.
